Steven Marjerison is a Christian contemporary recording artist, author, worship leader, and ministry executive in the Church of the Nazarene. A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, he has served in worship ministry for more than fifteen years, with seasons of ministry in New Mexico, Kentucky, and Arizona. In summer 2026, Steven accepted a ministry appointment in the Phoenix area, where he continues to serve through worship leadership, executive ministry, and music.

Ordained as an Elder in the Church of the Nazarene in 2018, Steven’s ministry reflects a commitment to theological depth, musical excellence, and meaningful engagement with both the local church and the broader community. His leadership has extended beyond the local congregation through denominational gatherings including the Holiness Partnership, the National Nazarene Black Conference, and the 2023 Nazarene General Assembly.

Steven has also contributed to conversations surrounding worship and ministry through published writing for Holiness Today and participation in panels, clinics, and educational settings focused on music, worship leadership, and the role of the arts in the Church. Earlier professional experience in education and administration further shaped his approach to organizational leadership and community engagement.

Steven previously held an ownership stake in Somerset Big Band, LLC, before selling his share and stepping away from active leadership in December 2025. He remains connected to the organization in an emeritus capacity and continues to serve as an acting board member for the Academy of Allied Musicians.

His recording career has developed alongside his ministry. Steven’s early album City of Surrender introduced his work as a recording artist and received extended radio exposure through Christian and radio outlets. His later projects have continued to reflect a broad musical vocabulary spanning contemporary Christian music, gospel, jazz, and the American songbook.

His full-length album Wishing on a Dream explores jazz-influenced arrangements and Disney-inspired storytelling, reflecting Steven’s belief that music can create meaningful points of connection beyond traditional church settings. The project includes a collaboration with vocalist Tiffany Coburn on “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” which the two also performed live at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset, Kentucky during Steven’s premiere concert.

Steven later released the original gospel single “Always Been There,” arranged by Dove Award–nominated Marquise Brown. The recording received national airplay and reached the top of the Chicago chart on BMS Radio Network in 2025.

Throughout his career, Steven has also participated in civic and community engagements connected with leaders including Congressman Hal Rogers and Senator Mitch McConnell, using music as a means of service across church, community, and public settings.

Steven is currently developing a multi-year Christmas recording project created in collaboration with arranger and producer Cody McVey. The project brings together a growing collection of musicians and vocal artists, including Gaither Vocal Band member Wes Hampton, and represents Steven’s continuing interest in creating music that combines artistic excellence, collaboration, nostalgia, and faith.

Whether leading worship, recording in the studio, writing, or developing new creative projects, Steven’s work remains rooted in a desire to serve faithfully, create meaningful music, and use the opportunities entrusted to him well.
